Botanical Garden of Bogotá

The Botanical Garden of Bogotá "José Celestino Mutis" is the largest botanical garden in Colombia. It is located in the locality of Engativá, at 2,600 meters above sea level, in the tropical belt it enjoys almost 12 hours of sunlight per day. Its average annual rainfall is 713 mm. It has 19.5 ha next to Simón Bolívar park, it is a place of research, education and leisure of the Colombian capital. Member of the BGCI. It is administered by the district government of Bogotá. It was created in 1955, in homage of the naturalist, mathematician and astronomer from Cádiz, José Celestino Mutis.
